Winners appear here after the first draw

Run a draw and the winners land here, ready to copy or export.

01

How the draw works

  1. 01Paste your roster into the booth, or import a .txt / .csv file. The separator is detected from the file.
  2. 02Set winners per draw and decide whether drawn names leave the pool. Repeated names are skipped by default.
  3. 03Start the draw. After the countdown the picker spins and reveals the winner, and each draw is kept in the history tab.

Nothing is generated server-side. The roster never leaves the page, so a classroom or a live stream can run the draw without an account and without a network round trip.

02

Separator reference

The booth splits your text with the separator you pick. If a list looks like one long name, the separator is the usual culprit.

SeparatorExampleUse it when
One per lineAndi Budi CitraPasting a roster from a document, chat or spreadsheet column.
CommaAndi, Budi, CitraA single line of names, or a CSV opened as plain text.
SemicolonAndi; Budi; CitraLists written with semicolons, common in exported contact data.
03

Fairness and randomness

Each draw reads numbers from crypto.getRandomValues() rather than the slower, weaker Math.random(). Winners are drawn without replacement, which means one draw can never return the same name twice, no matter how many winners you ask for.

Turning off "remove winners from the pool" keeps everyone eligible for the next draw, which suits repeated rounds. Leaving it on makes a giveaway fair: every name can win exactly once.

04

Where your data lives

The roster, settings, saved lists and draw history are stored in your browser's local storage on this device. There is no account and no server copy, so a private window or cleared browsing data starts the room empty.

05

What people use it for

  • Giveaways and raffles on stream
  • Classroom name draws
  • Team and task assignment
  • Contest or quiz winner selection
  • Secret Santa style pairings
  • Deciding who goes first

Drawing a wheel instead of names? The spin wheel uses the same idea with a visual wheel, and the tools index lists everything else that runs in the browser.

06

Running a smooth draw

  • Presentation mode fills the screen, so connect the projector or capture window before starting.
  • Use one winner per draw for a raffle, and 'remove winners from the pool' so nobody wins twice.
  • Save the roster as a list before a live event; loading it back takes seconds if the tab is reloaded.
  • Export the winners as JSON or copy them straight to the clipboard for the announcement post.

Frequently asked questions

Is this random name picker free?
Yes. The Draw Room is free to use, with no account, no download and no limit on how many draws you run.
Is the draw actually random?
Every draw reads numbers from your browser's crypto.getRandomValues() and picks winners without replacement, so each name has the same chance and no name can be picked twice in the same draw.
How many names can I paste at once?
Up to 20,000 names per roster. Comma, semicolon and one-name-per-line lists are all supported, and an imported file is parsed with the separator it uses.
Can I draw more than one winner at a time?
Yes. Set winners per draw in the booth, then keep drawing. With 'remove winners from the pool' on, each name can only be drawn once.
What happens if my list has the same name twice?
The picker spots repeated names and skips them by default, so typing a name twice cannot double its chance. Turn 'skip repeated names' off if the repeats are intentional.
Does it work for classroom draws and live events?
That is what presentation mode is for: the draw runs full screen with a countdown and a large winner reveal, which reads well on a projector or a stream.
Are my names sent to a server?
No. The roster, winners and saved lists stay in your own browser's local storage, so nothing is uploaded and the page works offline after the first load.
Why did my saved list disappear?
Saved lists live in this browser only. Clearing browsing data, using private mode, or switching device or browser will start from an empty room.
